Avarekalu huli (hyacinth beans gravy)

How to make Avarekalu huli? 

Recipe for Avarekalu huli Or the hyacinth beans curry is very simple, easy and quick to makebut very tasty. 

Avarekalu during winter is widely available and each kannadiga household relishes this beans in various dishes and recipes. 

Avarekalu huli is served with Ragi ball/ Ragi mudde and hot rice with ghee. 
This doesn't need any other accompaniment. 

Ingredients:
Avarekalu Or hyacinth beans - 2 cups (washed) 
Potato and Brinjal (optional) - cut into large cubes
Water as required
Salt to taste

For grinding:
Coconut grating - 1/2 cup
Jeeta - 2 tsp
Coriander - little
Tomato - 2 big ripe
Tamarind - a marble size
Sambar powder - 2tbsp
Garlic - 15/20 cloves
Onion - 1 medium chopped
Little water to grolind to paste

To season:
Oil 1 tb sp
Mustard and curry leaves

Method:

In a large deep pan, heat and add oil to season with mustard and curry leaves. 
And then add the beans and salt and water with vegetables if adding and cook till half done. 
Then add the ground masala, mix well and add water to required consistency. Check salt and spice and add accordingly. 
Now cook until the beans is Soft and also the vegetables cooked. Then summer for 2 mins and switch off. 
The hot curry is ready to serve
