Raw papaya halwa recipe
A simple and yummy dessert
Ingredients:
3 cups grated raw or semi ripe papaya (peel and grate without seeds)
3 cups sugar
1 cup milk
Khova - 200 gms
Ghee 5-6 tbsp
Dryfruits chopped -cashew nuts and raisins and almonds chopped.
Cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
Few strands of saffron dissolved in milk
Method:
In a heavy bottom pan add 3 tbsp ghee, fry the nuts and keep aside.
In the same ghee, add the grated papaya and fry for 5 mins, and add milk. Cook by stirring continuously in low flame until the papaya is cooked and milk has evaporated. Now add the sugar and cook until the sugar is melted and absorbed. Now add The mashed khova, cardamom powder and saffron milk.
Mix nicely until you get the halwa consistency.
Now add the remaining ghee dry fruits and give a good mix. Halwa ready to serve... It tastes good both when hot or cold.
I really loved the taste, it's better than carrot halwa actually
