Bread Dahi Vada Recipe

How to make Dahi Vada or Curd Vada using Bread?

Typically dahi vada is a big process of making vadas using the lentils. Here you have a recipe using bread.

This is one of the quickest and easiest snack which can be made for anytime visitors or family. My children love this as it has got all the tastes - sweet, sour, tangy, spicy.....mouthwatering.

I generally make the Bread Dahi Vada when I have a lot of bread and curd at home and yes, today was the day.

Serves: 4

Cooking/Preparation time: 10 mins

Ingredients:

For the Vada:
Bread slices (milk bread) - 8 nos.
Mint chutney (this is available most of the times in my refrigerator - for recipe click the link)

For Dahi/Curd:
Chilled Curd - 300 ml
Sugar - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Black salt - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp

For garnishing:
Khara boondi
Carrot - grated
Coriander leaves - chopped

Method:

Cut the bread into a circular shape using a bowl or a cookie cutter - the size depends on the bread slice; please discard the edges of the bread slice.
Take two slices of the cut bread and apply the mint chutney and make it into a sandwich.
Place it on a plate. Repeat with other slices too which makes 4 plates.
Take a hand shaker and put all the ingredients mentioned under Dahi/Curd and shake it well until the sugar dissolves completely.
Now pour the curd onto the bread slices equally on all plates.
Garnish it with grated carrot, coriander and kharaboondi.

The bread dahi vada is ready to serve. Please note that the dahi vada has to be served within 5-10 mins of making otherwise it becomes soggy and doesn't taste good.

You can make the sandwiches and the curd (refrigerate the curd until use) ready before hand and serve when guests arrive or you are ready to eat.
