How to make Sambhar at home?

Here you can find an easy method on how to prepare awesome Sambhar. This is a very simple recipe but the Sambhar tastes so good that you will keep licking your fingers at the end of the meal.

Ingredients:

Toor Dal - 100 gms
Tomatoes - 3 nos. (ripe & whole)
Onion - 1 no. (chopped)
Oil - 1 tsp
Turmeric - 1 pinch
Vegetables of your choice - 2 cups (Drumstick/Potato, Ridge gourd, Radish, etc.)
Sambhar powder - 1 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Coconut gratings - 2 tbsp + 1 tbsp for garnishing
Coriander leaves - for garnishing

Seasoning:
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Hing - 1 pinch

Method:

Pressure cook the Dal with tomatoes and onions with 1 tsp oil and turmeric. When the pressure releases, take the tomatoes out and grind it with sambhar powder and 2 tbsp coconut in a mixer to bring to a paste and keep it aside. While the Dal is cooking, in another pan, do the seasoning and add vegetables with salt and cook until done.

Once all these 3 are ready, mix all in one big container in which you want the sambhar to be made. Let it boil and then simmer it for 5-8 mins. Garnish with 1 tbsp coconut gratings and coriander leaves.

The yummy tasty sambhar is ready to eat with Hot Rice. Add ghee to your hot rice before consumption.
