Ingredients:
Dry red chillies - 12-15 nos.
Jeera - 1 full tsp
Tamarind - 1 big lemon size
salt - as per taste
oil - 1 tsp
1 big onion - roughly chopped.
Method:
Soak the tamarind in 1/4 cup water. Heat the oil in a kadai and add the jeera and dry red chillies and fry for one minute until the chillies change colour. Roughly grind the chillies, jeera along with tamarind pulp and salt in a mixer. Then add the raw onion and just give one stir in the mixture. The pieces of onion should be visible. Do not grind to a fine paste. If the chutney is too hot and spicy, you can add some more tamarind and salt and adjust accordingly.
The chutney goes well with pesarattu and any other dosas. Also with hot rice and ghee.
